Sarkari Naukri / Govt Jobs Options after Class 10th Pass


Even after two decades of liberalization, Sarkari Naukri or Government Jobs still remain the most preferred and sought after career choice among Indian youth. The most evident example of this phenomenon has to be the cut-throat competition faced for getting a Sarkari Naukri for which minimum eligibility criteria is of Class 10th pass. Students who need to financially support their families or need some experience before pursuing their further studies can opt for Sarkari Naukri after Class 10th.
Every year, the different government departments announce regular vacancies for Class 10th students seeking govt jobs. These announcements are done in public newspapers along with the publication of official notification on the departmental website. However, due to minimum educational qualification required, these job offers see very tough competition and often many deserving candidates miss out on application deadlines.

Govt Departments that offer jobs after Class 10
Students seeking govt jobs after 10th class have six options to choose from i.e. Defence, Railways, Staff Selection Commission, Banking Sector, State Level Govt Jobs and Police. The jobs offered by these governmental agencies are lucrative not only in the terms of salary package and perks offered but also when it comes to overall job satisfaction.

Defence Jobs after Class 10
Defence sector of the government of India comprises of the combined forces of Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Indian Army. All the three branches of Indian armed forces offer entry level positions to 10th pass candidates. Defence Jobs after Class 10 may include positions of logistical support like mate tradesmen, multi-tasking staff, electricians, machinists, painters, welders, cooks, tailors, washermen, engine fitter and others. While, the majority of these positions require matriculation or Class 10th pass certificate as minimum educational qualifications, some may require special training like ITI, Diploma and National Apprenticeship Certificates.

Railway Jobs after Class 10th
Indian Railways is the world's seventh largest commercial or utility employer with a workforce of 1.4 million employees. Railway offers different types of employment opportunities of candidates from different backgrounds including Class 10th Pass students. As far as jobs in railways are concerned, Indian Railways is divided into 19 different Railway Recruitment Boards, who independently conduct enrolment examinations to hire candidates at different positions. For 10th pass candidates, railway offers positions under Group C & D staff including technical and manual work posts like act apprentice, fitter, welder, carpenter, technician Gr-III, maintainers and others. Some of the posts offered for Class 10th pass students in the Indian railways may require technical training certification or ITI to be considered for employment.

Staff Selection Commission / SSC Jobs after Class 10th
Staff Selection Commission is the premier recruitment agency for the central government. The agency looks after recruitment and training of personnel at different positions in governmental ministries, departments and boards. Annually SSC CHSL (Combined Matric Level / Higher Secondary Level) Exam is conducted by the agency to hire candidates at entry level positions after completion of Class 10th. Generally, candidates are hired as Multi-tasking staff, data entry operators and lower division clerks through SSC Matric Examinatios. In addition to this, SSC also recruits constables in BSF, ITBP, Assam Rifles, CRPF, SSB and NIA through Constable (GD) exam.

Banking Jobs after Class 10th
Banking is another important sector that offers excellent job opportunities to Class 10th pass students. Considering the exponential growth prospects and expanding network of both public sector and private sector banks, jobs in banking is not only great in terms of salary package but also in terms of associated perks and promotional benefits. Banks hire Class 10th pass candidates to fill low-ranking positions like sweeper, multipurpose staff and other similar posts. All these posts are generic in nature and have basic job responsibilities that make it ideal to prepare for other govt job exams like SSC or UPSC.

State Government Jobs
Apart from the central government, the state government also conducts its own recruitment drives to hire candidates for different positions within the bureaucratic setup of the state administration. As part of this, state governments and respective public service commissions or staff selection boards announce employment opportunities for students who have cleared Class 10th examination. The minimum educational qualification required for such job is matriculation, however, some state recruitment agencies would also keep domicile as an eligibility criteria for hiring candidate. The common posts for which state governments hire students after class 10th include Lower division clerks, lower division assistants, multi-tasking staff, Upper Division Clerks, jail constables/prahari, skilled tradesmen, patwari, forest guard, jail bandhi rakshak, assistant foreman, junior engineer, act apprentice posts, and others.
Police Force
Police force also has credible and exciting employment opportunities on offer for Class 10th pass students. Although higher level positions like Superintendant of Police (SP), Assistant SP, inspector, sub-inspectors require graduation as minimum educational qualification, the lower ranked positions like head constables, constables and senior police constables are hired after completion of Class 10. In addition to this, special technical and skill based posts like constable drivers, drivers, firemen and special auxiliary police officers are have matriculation as minimum educational requirement. In addition to meeting the minimum educational requirements, candidates also have to meet necessary physical standards in order to be selected for these posts.
While these are just a few of the popular employment opportunities available to Class 10th pass candidates in the government sector. Apart from this, public sector companies like HAL, ONGC and others also hire matric pass students for low ranked positions after class 10.
