NRI man burns himself, wife and children to death after being informed about wife’s objectionable video

When an NRI man returned from Jordan to his home in Punjab, little did he envisage the drastic fate that awaited him here. Kulwinder Singh was returning home after a gap of 18 months.

However, upon his return to his Kalasinga village, he suspected his wife of being in extramarital affairs with another man. This left him seething, prompting him to take a drastic step. According to police, Singh burnt himself, his wife and their two children alive at their house.
The cops said that 35-year-old Singh was incensed on seeing a sleazy video of his wife. At his native village Kalasingia, he poured petrol on himself, his wife and their two children and set them on fire.
A report by PTI said that Singh, along with his two children Abhi, 5, and Sonal,8, died on the spot while his wife received more than 80 per cent burn injuries. She too later died at a hospital.
Police have registered a case against four people of the same village for making the video around three months ago. The accused blackmailed the woman and later sent the video to her husband.

A report by Hindustan Times said that Singh’s wife was being blackmailed by a villager Gurpreet, who demanded sexual favours. Gurpreet had filmed Mandeep’s obscene video, which he had shared with his two other friends, Sunny and Balkar.
“When I talked to my husband about this, he got furious. Later, when we were sleeping he poured kerosene on us and set us on fire,” she told the police.
Kulwinder’s sister Jaswinder Kaur too suffered minor injuries because she rushed to help the victims after hearing their scream in the adjoining room. MS Bawa, medical superintendent, Jalandhar civil hospital, said, “She also sustained minor burn injuries and was discharged after the first aid.”
Superintendent of police (SP) Jagjit Singh Saroya said, “He came to know about his wife’s affair when she told him that a man was threatening to post her obscene video on social media and demanding sexual favours.”
